Care Farm

Community‑Ed’s Care Farm is a unique, hands‑on learning environment that offers our young people meaningful opportunities to grow, develop and thrive outside of a traditional classroom setting. Located a short journey from our provision, the farm provides a calm, natural space where learners can connect with animals, build practical skills and experience learning in a way that feels safe, engaging and purposeful.

Students have the chance to work directly with our animals. Through these experiences, learners begin to understand responsibility, routine and care, while also benefiting from the therapeutic impact of being outdoors. For some young people, the farm offers a gentler, less intense environment than the classroom, helping them rebuild confidence, resilience and core learning behaviours at a pace that suits them.

Learning at the farm is closely linked to accreditation. Students can work towards AQA Unit Awards at levels appropriate to their needs, gaining recognition for practical achievements such as animal care, land‑based tasks and farm maintenance. Alongside this, learners can access BTEC vocational qualifications in Cooking, Media, and Land‑Based Studies, creating clear pathways into further education, training and employment. As we grow the farm and gain more animals we are able to offer more opportunities to our future students.

The Care Farm is becoming an important part of our alternative provision offer. It gives young people a chance to learn differently, to succeed in ways that matter to them, and to build the confidence needed to take their next steps. As the farm continues to develop, our students will play a key role in shaping its future, contributing ideas, skills and vision as part of their personalised learning journey.
